It’s hard to believe that the holidays are already here. It feels like this year has just blown by. It was certainly a different year for al of us but now is the time to reflect on all the good that this year did bring and the magic to happen in 2021. What do you have planned for your consumers for the holiday season? Still struggling to figure out what you should be doing for holiday marketing? Well I’m here to help you out with some ideas. Here’s a little secret, some of these can work year round but now is a good time to apply these.
People love themed based images. It sets a mood and gives people the holiday feels. Just drive around your neighborhood and look at all the designs of homes with lights, trees, holiday character. Now that you are in that mindset, Think about how you dress up your marketing. Your emails and social media content and images should reflect the holidays. Angels, lights, wreaths, candles give your content a more holiday themed look. Remember to be culturally aware and think about who your are clients are. If they celebrate other holidays like Kwanza or Hanukkah, remember to use imagery that reflects that. Have fun with it.
Think about your content. Let’s say you are a baker for example. Maybe you could write content about the best baked holiday goods to have for Christmas dessert. Have some of your content be reflective of the holidays and the things your customers can use or take from to make their season just a bit brighter. If you are a baker by the way, sweets are my thing so I can’t wait to read that article!
Also in the realm of content, remember to use branded and trending holiday hashtags in whatever you are promoting. This will give new audiences the opportunity to see your content. Loyal customers will appreciate your branded hashtags and likely use them as well when sharing your content.
The holiday season is about giving. If you don’t already, now is a good time to align with a charity or giving partner. Talk about them in your content and encourage your customers to contribute to them or another philanthropy. Remember to check in with your charity partner over the holidays and determine if they have a need that your business can support. Especially in this year, that level of connection and support will be greatly appreciated.
Speaking of partnership, it’s a great time to connect with other small businesses and cross promote each other’s products and services. Perhaps a local business has a holiday promotion that will really support your clients. For example, let’s say you have a sports wear line and there is a local gym in your area promoting a sale for holiday memberships. Reach out to them and suggest a cross promotion marketing strategy. You are both helping one another while introducing your product to a new audience.
So have your clients been naughty or nice? Heck, even if they were not that nice, it’s a great time to do some giveaways and contests. You can easily do a themed contest. You can ask for user generated content whereby entrants have to tell you why they deserve a free (enter your service or product here) for the holidays. Make it fun and actually give your product away to one lucky winner. Doesn’t that sound fun?
Can you bundle any of your products and services? When it comes to gifts, promotions and giveaways or sales, The more the merrier. Promote your bundle as a holiday package. People love to receive extra gifts during the holiday season. It’s also a great way to have your customers try a product or service they otherwise might not have.
Do you have a referral program? Now is the time. People are in the mood to give, share and be generous so they will refer
Your products and services now more then ever. Think about a good referral incentive for the referrer and the referee. Remember, friends trust their friends for product and gifts ideas. Your customers might just be the best advocates to advertise your business.
